Jyotiranjan Gudia is a dedicated Ph.D. scholar at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He hails from the indigenous Didayi tribe of Malkangiri district and has been passionately involved in researching tribal governance systems. His doctoral research focuses on the continuity and changes in the traditional political system of the Didayi tribe, exploring how modern influences intersect with age-old customs. A disciplined and sincere academician, Jyotiranjan has consistently represented tribal voices through his fieldwork, presentations, and scholarly writings. He is also an artist who once created a live painting of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru during a Children’s Day celebration at KISS. In February 2017, he presented a portrait to Hollywood actress and UNFPA ambassador Ashley Judd during her visit to KISS. Beyond academia, he is known for his humble nature, strong cultural roots, and leadership qualities. Jyotiranjan has a deep love for his community and works tirelessly to preserve its identity and traditions.
