Dr. Jyotiranjan Gudia Participated as a Guest in the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Workshop Programme at Chitrakonda

On 6th August 2026, I had the privilege of attending the Block Level Workshop and Convergence Meeting on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) as a guest at Mission Shakti Bhaban, Chitrakonda, organized by ICDS, Chitrakonda Block, Malkangiri. Although I was invited to represent Government Degree College, Chitrakonda, I attended the programme on behalf of our respected Principal Sir, who was unable to participate due to other important official responsibilities. I sincerely thank our Principal Sir for entrusting me with this responsibility and giving me the opportunity to represent our institution at such a meaningful programme.

The workshop brought together government officials, educators, students, ICDS functionaries, Mission Shakti members and community representatives with the common objective of promoting the empowerment, education and safety of girls. The discussions focused on several important themes, including Digital Literacy, Financial Literacy, Economic, Social and Political Rights, Cyber Safety and the objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. The programme created an interactive platform where participants shared ideas, experiences and practical approaches to strengthening the status of girls and women in society.

During the discussion on Digital Literacy, emphasis was placed on the importance of equipping girls with digital skills to access educational resources, government services and employment opportunities. It was highlighted that digital knowledge enables young women to become more confident, independent and capable of participating in today's technology-driven world. The need to bridge the digital divide, especially in rural and tribal areas, was also discussed.

The session on Financial Literacy stressed the importance of teaching girls how to manage money, save for the future, use banking services, understand digital payments and make informed financial decisions. Financial awareness was presented as a key factor in achieving economic independence and improving the overall quality of life for women and their families.

Another important topic was Economic, Social and Political Rights, where participants discussed the constitutional rights and opportunities available to women in India. The speakers emphasized equal access to education, employment, leadership positions and participation in democratic processes. They encouraged young girls to become active citizens, develop leadership qualities and contribute positively to society.

The discussion on Cyber Safety highlighted the increasing risks associated with internet use, including cyberbullying, online fraud, identity theft and digital harassment. Students were advised to use strong passwords, protect personal information, verify online content, report cybercrimes when necessaryand practice responsible use of social media. The session emphasized that digital awareness is essential for ensuring safe and responsible online participation.

The workshop also reinforced the core objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, which aims to improve the child sex ratio, promote girls' education and ensure their protection and empowerment. The programme encouraged every participant to become an advocate for gender equality and to support an environment where every girl receives equal opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to the ICDS, Chitrakonda Block and all the organizers for inviting me to this informative and inspiring programme. I am especially thankful to our respected Principal Sir for giving me the honour of representing our college in his absence. The workshop provided a valuable platform for learning, meaningful discussions and interaction with students and officials. I firmly believe that such awareness programmes play an important role in building a more educated, safe and gender-equal society and I look forward to contributing to similar initiatives in the future.
