Government Degree College, Chitrakonda Celebrates Its 3rd Foundation Day with Pride and Purpose: Dr. Jyotiranjan Gudia Delivers an Inspiring Address

Government Degree College, Chitrakonda celebrated its 3rd Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and a spirit of academic excellence on 1 August 2026 at the college campus. The programme brought together the principal, faculty members, staff, and students to commemorate the institution's journey since its establishment on 1 August 2023. The celebration reflected the college's commitment to quality education, innovation, and holistic student development.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introductory speech by Dr. Chinmayi Kumar Behera, Principal of Government Degree College, Chitrakonda. In his address, he highlighted the history of the college, its achievements during the past three years, and the vision for its future. He encouraged students to make the best use of the educational opportunities available to them and emphasized the importance of discipline, innovation, and continuous learning in shaping successful careers.

Dr. Jyotiranjan Gudia, Guest Faculty in Political Science, is delivering his address during the celebration of the 3rd Foundation Day of Government Degree College, Chitrakonda. 

During the programme, Dr. Jyotiranjan Gudia, Guest Faculty in Political Science, shared his thoughts on the significance of Foundation Day. He spoke about the importance of remembering the institution's journey, honouring the efforts of its founders, teachers, and students, and building a strong academic culture. He encouraged students to develop leadership qualities, critical thinking, and social responsibility while pursuing their education. He also motivated students to contribute positively to society through knowledge, creativity, and ethical values.

The celebration became even more meaningful as faculty members and students reflected on the remarkable progress of the institution over the last three years. The programme served not only as a celebration of the past but also as a commitment to building a brighter future for higher education in the Chitrakonda region.

Dr. Jyotiranjan Gudia was born on May 1, 1997, in Muduliguda village of Malkangiri district, Odisha. He belongs to a tribal community and has always stayed closely connected to the culture, traditions and social systems of indigenous people. He completed his Ph.D. at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. His doctoral research focused on the traditional political system of the Didayi tribe, one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Odisha. His thesis, titled “Continuity and Changes of Traditional Political System of Didayi Tribe in Odisha: A Case Study of Malkangiri District,” examined how traditional governance structures have evolved in response to contemporary influences. He carried out extensive fieldwork in 12 villages across Malkangiri, studying traditional leadership roles such as Naik, Chalan, Pujari and Dishari. Committed to preserving tribal identity and knowledge, he continues to work toward empowering indigenous communities through research and advocacy. Dr. Jyotiranjan Gudia is the first Doctorate from the Didayi community of Malkangiri district of Odisha.
