The Department of
Political Science, Government Degree College, Chitrakonda, organised a seminar
on the topic “Globalization and the Changing Nature of Unity in Diversity in
India.” The seminar was organised with the objective of providing students with
an opportunity to understand the impact of globalization on Indian society,
culture, politics, economy, and the traditional idea of “Unity in Diversity.”

India is known throughout
the world for its rich diversity of religions, languages, cultures, traditions,
ethnic communities, and social practices. At the same time, the country has
maintained a strong sense of national unity. Globalization has brought significant
changes to Indian society by increasing interaction among people, cultures,
economies, and ideas across the world. Therefore, the seminar provided an
important platform to discuss how these changes are influencing India's unity
and diversity.
Participation of
Political Science Students

A large number of students actively
participated in the seminar, showing their enthusiasm and interest in
contemporary social and political issues. Three students from the Political
Science Department presented their research papers:

Rasmita presented her paper on the seminar
theme and highlighted the changing dimensions of Indian society in the era of
globalization.

Rohit presented his paper focusing on the
political and social implications of globalization and its influence on
national unity.

Jamuna presented her paper discussing
India's cultural diversity and the challenges and opportunities created by
globalization.
The presentations
demonstrated the students' interest in contemporary political and social
issues. Their participation also provided them with valuable experience in
academic presentation, research, communication, and discussion.
The active participation
of many students made the seminar more engaging and created an opportunity for
students to listen to different perspectives and exchange ideas. As an
appreciation for their participation, the institution also arranged a pen gift
for each participant, recognising and encouraging students' involvement in
the academic programme.
Benefits of the Seminar

Seminars are an important
part of higher education because they provide learning opportunities beyond
regular classroom teaching. The seminar benefited students in several ways:

Why Should We Organise
Seminars?
Seminars should be
regularly organised in colleges because education is not limited to textbooks
and classroom lectures. A seminar creates an academic environment where
students and teachers can exchange ideas, discuss important issues, and learn
from one another.
For Political Science
students especially, seminars are valuable because politics and society are
constantly changing. Topics such as globalization, democracy, human rights,
secularism, nationalism, federalism, social justice, and multiculturalism
require discussion from different perspectives. Seminars enable students to
examine these issues critically and develop informed opinions
Such programmes also help
students prepare for higher education, competitive examinations, research, and
future professional responsibilities. They encourage students to become
confident, informed, and responsible citizens who can contribute positively to
society.
Overall, the seminar was a valuable academic programme that encouraged student participation, research, critical thinking, communication skills, and academic interaction. The appreciation extended to the participants through the distribution of pen gifts further encouraged students to actively engage in future academic activities.
